Celebrities Chip In For Doctors' Day 2016 Charity Event
Kuala Lumpur, 6 October 2016 – Two local celebrities have volunteered their time and effort to the Doctors' Day 2016 charity event, "A Day of a Thousand Smiles".
June Yap, recently crowned Mrs. Borneo World 2015/2016 and Adi Afendi a popular television personality and public communication specialist will join a host of doctors, their families and other volunteers on Sunday 9th October who will be at hand to make a memorable day for more 120 orphans from across the Klang Valley. The program will feature a Mini Fashion Show by the children and doctor's themselves coached by the June who specialises as a life and pageant coach.She is also Mrs World 2016 Top 12 Finalist and second runner up for Mrs Malaysia World 2015/2016.
The full-day program includes a magic show, book donation and a whole host of games and goodies.
The opening ceremony will feature a performance by Kelab Gendang 24 Musim, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Members of the public are kindly invited to pre-register for the blood donation and CPR/ basic life-shaving techniques session by FPMAPAM/CARE and the St. John's Ambulance Malaysia. There will also be a public talk on "Party Drugs and Partying without Drugs "by Mr. Chris Sekar, Addiction Specialist from Gleneagles Hospital KL. Refreshments and a goodies bag will await all donors.
"We are thrilled by this spirit of social responsibility of our celebrities like June and Adi, volunteering their time and effort to make this special day really memorable for the kids" says Dr Steven Chow, President of the FPMPAM.
He said that besides the celebration in Kuala Lumpur, private doctors' organizations in Perak, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak would also be organizing their own events in conjunction with Doctors' Day.
"Oct 10 was chosen as Doctors' Day dedicated to the importance of full commitment and professionalism in medical care for our patients. The FPMPAM urges all Malaysians to join their doctors in the celebration to share the importance of a good doctor-patient relationship in times of health and disease" he said.
